In 2015 I challenged myself to summit Mt. Whitney. The popular peak is the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.

I have backpacked regularly since my Boy Scout days but never been to that high of a peak. The thin air and low oxygen at that altitude, 6,000ft of climbing and distance of 22 miles made this a challenge worthy of my focus for the year.

I successfully summited Mt. Whitney on August 23, 2015. Below is a photo and some blog posts I wrote along the way.
